Technology being developed to disable mobile 'phones in cars

Phone88 Several times a month, a story reaches the Big Brother Watch team which seems beyond the realms of credibility. This is one such story.

According to a story published in The Hill, a daily political newspaper published in Washington DC, the US Department for Transportation are "looking into technology to disable cell phones in vehicles". Such a move is seen as a "blunt instrument in the fight against distracted driving".

While nobody could disagree that motorists should be actively encouraged to observe high standards of road safety, to block the use of mobile 'phones in cars is nanny-statism at its very worst.
