Launch of draft Investigatory Powers Bill Factsheets

Big Brother Watch Team / December 2, 2015

The draft Investigatory Powers Bill has been published. At almost 300 pages long it outlines the future of surveillance powers in the UK.

Because the proposals have the potential to impact on each and every one of us, it is important we all know and understand what powers the Government want the police and spies to have.

To help make sense of what has been published we have created special edition Big Brother Watch Privacy Factsheets which outline each power, what it is, how it can be used and what concerns there may be.

We encourage you to take a moment to have a read and get a sense of what is being proposed. Feel free to print them off, share them on social media or with friends and family.

If you find yourself with worries or concerns please write to your Member of Parliament or to the Joint Committee of MPs and Lords who are scrutinising the proposals. You don’t have long to make your voice heard, only until the 21st of December.

Benjamin Franklin once wrote that there were two certainties in life, death and taxes. The proposals in this draft Bill will add another certainty….surveillance. With your support we have the opportunity to prevent that from happening.
